I’m Claire Gilhuly, a San Francisco-based book editor. I work on the food and lifestyle team at a publishing house where I edit cookbooks, baking books, and cocktail books; as well as lifestyle books on the topics of nature, gardening, home decor, style, wellness, self-help, and more.

Smorgasbord is a twice-monthly newsletter filled with a bevy of food and lifestyle recommendations. Every month on the 15th, I send a short essay and an assortment of things I love, from novels to podcasts, clothing brands, home decor items, beauty products, gardening tools—you name it. On the last day of every month, I send a cookbook review, gathering my learnings from a month of kitchen adventures that you can follow on Instagram or TikTok @books.to.cook. I also send occasional announcements about books I’ve edited on the day they publish.
